Your student's teacher will share information about AIG nominations in their weekly newsletter. Please be aware that before a WCPSS parent may nominate their child for AIG testing, they must meet and discuss the potential nomination with their child's teacher(s). Students may not be tested twice in a year. Make-up testing dates are not offered by the county. 2nd GRADE IDENTIFICATION
In the 24/25 school year, all 2nd Grade students went through WCPSS' screening process in the Fall/Winter. We have not yet received information about whether students will be screened in 2nd or 3rd grade this year. Here is the link to 24/25 Parent Letter from WCPSS regarding last year's CogAT and IOWA testing in 2nd Grade.
If your child qualifies for OCE's AIG program, you will be notified by letter in May/ June/ July depending on when test scores are returned to OCE. Identified students will begin 45-minute per week per identified subject area (Reading and/or Math) pull-out sessions at the start of the following school year. All OCE students demonstrating mastery of a standard are offered in-class enrichment opportunities.

AIG or AG or IG....?
What is the difference between Intellectually Gifted (IG), Academically Gifted (AG), or Academically and Intellectually Gifted (AIG)? AG, IG, and AIG students are all served in the exact same way in elementary school and beyond. No designation is considered higher or more advanced than another. The designation of AG, IG, or AIG comes from the data used for student identification.
More Questions?
Please contact your child's teacher or the AIG teachers if you have questions
about your student and the AIG screening process. You can visit the WCPSS AIG webpage HERE.
