This course is designed for students who have no background or previous interactions with the Spanish language. It is recommended that native speakers of Spanish choose different electives to explore other interests. Native Spanish speakers will have the opportunity to register to take the Credit by Demonstration of Mastery (CDM) exam in their 8th grade year. Successful completion of the CDM exam can award a student with up to 2 World Language Credits that count towards high school graduation requirements. Please contact me or Ms. Corey if you would like more information about this exam!
In Spanish class, you should expect to do the following:
Speak, read, write, and listen in Spanish (we will PRACTICE these things!)
Always try your best. Practice makes progress, not perfection!
Turn in work completed in Spanish (this is how you practice!)
Be uncomfortable at first (It's always a weird feeling to speak a language you are unfamiliar with!)
Pay attention and follow expectations
Perfect! This is the class for you. We start with the basics and build up throughout each unit. Middle School is the perfect time to start learning a new language.
In Spanish class, we use the following websites to keep track of coursework and build our learning:
Canvas
