Mrs. Meghan Sollars is excited to be part of the North Ridge Elementary School community. She was born in Connecticut and at the age of three moved with her family to Northern California. Meghan spent her elementary school years in the Bay Area learning about the culture and environment of the West Coast. At the age of 10, Meghan returned to Connecticut until she attended Roanoke College in Salem, Virginia where she received an undergraduate degree in Sociology with a minor in Education.
After graduating college, she moved to Raleigh, North Carolina to pursue her teaching career at J.Y. Joyner Center for Spanish Language/International Baccalaureate PYP Magnet Elementary. While teaching, Meghan took graduate classes at Meredith College and received her Master’s in Elementary Education. After eight years of teaching, she took a leave to welcome her son, Shane, who is now 17, and daughter, Mckenna, who is now 14. Upon returning to the classroom, Meghan taught as an Academically and Intellectually Gifted (AIG) teacher at Wiley International Studies Magnet school. During that time, she earned her AIG certificate from UNC Pembroke and served as part-time Magnet Coordinator. Meghan continued her teaching journey at Douglas Creative Arts and Science Elementary creating the K-5 STEAM program and serving as Magnet Coordinator. Meghan also taught STEAM enrichment classes in an after-school program at Magellan Charter School.
Meghan looks forward to her fourth year at North Ridge Elementary continuing to meet new staff, parents, and students. She always enjoys gaining insight from the individuals she meets and learning new and creative ways to make a difference in her students’ lives.
