Homework/Schedule/Links
Homework
Language Arts (Mrs Ivey): Each night, students will be expected to read and complete an activity related to the day's lesson.
Nightly Reading
Students are expected to read for at least 20 minutes every night. You can have your child read aloud to you, they can read in their head, or each of you can take turns reading a page. They should read a book that is on their appropriate reading level. If you find your child is struggling to read a book, then that book is not appropriate for them to read. This nightly reading is highly important and will help your child's fluency, vocabulary, and reading comprehension. To extend the reading, you can have your child write about what they read. You may also ask them questions out loud about the book to test their understanding.
Children should also aim to spend some time in istation during evenings/weekends/holidays and are aware of their login details for this resource.
Math (Mrs Bronson): Each night, children will receive a worksheet or journal prompt relating to their learning from that day. They should be able to complete this homework independently but a little support is encouraged. It is a consolidation exercise and will always contain questions or challenges similar to what has been taught in class.
Children are also encouraged to play Math games and answer questions interactively, where possible, on the prodigy website. Their username and password has been sent home.
