Behavior and Expectations

PBIS- Positive Behavior Intervention and Support

Lynn Road uses the PBIS system (Positive Behavior Interventions and Support) to create a safe, nurturing, and healthy environment.

Students say the Lynn Road pledge every morning: PAWS; Practice Self Control, Act Responsibly, Work Collaboratively and Show Respect. Students are expected to demonstrate these four traits throughout the entire day, both inside and out of the classroom.

Every month, the school as a whole focuses on one character trait. Teachers integrate this character trait into their teaching and classroom. The guidance counselors also conduct lessons about traits, too. Students are nominated for showing the trait of the month, and are then recognized at a monthly character trait award ceremony. (Check the class news section to find out more information about the monthly trait!)

Capturing Kids' Hearts

Lynn Road also uses the Capturing Kids' Hearts program to promote a healthy school environment. Teachers build a strong classroom community and positive relationships with students through this program. Teachers greet students at the door every morning. Classes build "social contracts" to specify how they want to be treated/how they will treat each other and students are encouraged to support each other and take responsibility for their actions individually and as a class.

Find out more information by visiting the Capturing Kids' Hearts website here.

Classroom Dojo/Consequences

These are the 4th grade consequences for student misbehavior. (Depending on the nature of the misbehavior, students may start at a higher consequence)

1.) Verbal warning

2.) Negative Dojo

3.) Reflection Sheet

4.) Parent call/email

5.) Office/student services referral

Expectations

Students are aware the expectations in class and around the school. These are for the safety of all students and to enable them to work in a meaningful, effective learning environment where time is precious. We offer Dojo points, class prizes, homework passes and cushions to sit on in Ms Arcari's 4th grade class for those who excel in following direction and meeting the expectations. We appreciate your support in encouraging children to do this.
