Check your student's Homework Folder. Here you will find updates about your student's behavior. It is also where they keep their homework.
At the end of the day, your student will evaluate their behavior and work habits with a 3, 2 or 1.
Level 3: A check mark indicates that your student met all expectations for the day.
Level 2: Message home explaining what your student struggled with that day. If you notice consistent 2's and I haven't reached out to you, please feel free to contact me. This may include a photo of a Behavior Reflection Sheet if further reflection is necessary.
Level 1: No note. Behavior at a level 1 is serious enough for a phone call so that we can work together to get the student back on track.
Sometimes you'll see numbers like 2.5 or 2.8. This usually means that the student felt like they had on off day or made a mistake and fixed it. This is a part of the reflection and improvement process and not a huge cause for concern. If you see this, ask your student why they felt they had a "2.8" and what they are planning to do to improve it.
Students will take home their "Family Folder".
Periodically I will send home work samples in a stapled packet. Please review, sign the first page and return the entire packet. I keep these samples in the student's portfolios for conferences and to keep track of all of their growth over the year.
Any papers that are not in the packet can be kept at home unless they need to be filled out like field trip forms.
Students should read 20 minutes every weekday and fill out their reading journal. On Mondays, students will receive a packet of math pages for the week. This should not take longer than 15 - 20 minutes to complete. They are also allowed to do this at dismissal time, especially if they have a later pickup time. If they ever struggle with math they should seek help at the school the following day. There should be no tears over homework. If this is there is please let me know.
