Thanks for checking out our class website. I wanted to share a little about myself. I was born and raised in Kettering, Ohio (near Dayton). I moved to North Carolina in June 2011 to be closer to family and closer to the beach! This is my 15th year in education, and I have loved every minute of it. I taught for 2 years in Dayton before moving to Apex. I taught 1st grade at Brentwood Magnet Elementary School of Engineering in Raleigh my first year in North Carolina, which was about 40 minutes from my house. I then transferred to Carpenter in 2012 to cut 20 minutes out of my commute, which I spent the next 4 years in 1st grade. After I had my first son, I took a year off to be with him and then returned as a substitute to work in a more part-time role. I returned to teaching full-time in February of 2017 as a 2nd grade teacher at Herbert Akins as an interim teacher to finish out the school year, then returned to Carpenter the following school year. I am so excited to be back at Carpenter since it has always felt like home!

I am married, have a 10-year-old little boy named Jackson, and a 7-year-old boy named Mason! We live near Jordan Lake on a little over 3 acres and have a part-time homestead! We have a big garden and several chickens! We have 2 dogs and 1 cat, which I'm sure you will hear all about from my students. Our dog's names are Odin and Thor, and our cat's name is Mara. Needless to say, we love animals and everything nature-related!

In my free time, I love hanging out with my boys, camping, gardening, swimming, going to the beach, and doing anything outdoors. I enjoy being outside in nature, but also love to see a great movie!
