Today students will engage in the first reading of "Power Off." They will focus on word meaning by working with a partner to identify unknown words in the text and using strategies (context clues, word parts, dictionary, etc.) to determine their meanings. They will record this information in a three-column chart in their notebooks.

Homework: Raz-Kids - Read the book on your own.

Students will once again work with a partner to identify figurative language in the text, determine the type of figurative language, and determine its actual meaning. They will use a different three-column chart to record their responses.

Homework: Raz-Kids - Take the quiz.
