Teachers each have a WCPSS email. If you email a question, you can typically expect a reply from teachers within 24 working hours. Teachers can only reply to students when they email from their WCPSS Outlook email.
TalkingPoints
Teachers can log into TalkingPoints on their school laptops and send group announcements and/or individual messages to parents who receive them either via the TalkingPoints app or as a text message. Phone numbers for text messages are pulled from parent contact information registered in PowerSchool. When parents reply to teachers' TalkingPoint messages, only the teacher will see the message. Other parents will not see other parents' messages.
Weekly Newsletter
The 6th grade teachers send a Weekly Newsletter every Friday with announcements and updates from Administration, the Guidance Counselors, AIG, and each core subject.
PowerSchool
PowerSchool communicates grade averages for the quarter of each class. By clicking on the numerical average, you can see all assignments that make up that average. There are codes that communicate of an assignment is missing, late, incomplete, etc. Also, teachers can post assignment information and grade comments that are viewable to students and parents. See more about understanding PowerSchool on this website here.
Canvas
Assignments and Assessments can be seen in the Canvas Calendar for each class. Students automatically have access to this and parents will as well using their Canvas Observer account. Canvas can also communicate academic achievement. For example, an ELA essays may be assigned in Canvas with a rubric. Students can see their performance on the rubric once scored. Assessments in Canvas can be viewed once scored and released by the teacher, such as when all students have taken the assessment.
