Tutor.com is a FREE LIVE TUTORING (WITH A HUMAN!) program offered to anyone who has a Wake County library card. You can very easily connect via voice or text with a free public library card.
All students (Math 6, Math 6 Plus, and Math 7 Plus) will be using the OpenUp Resources Math Curriculum this year. Students will be given workbooks for each unit of study. The majority of student materials can also be found on our daily learning logs. Our daily learning log will have the lessons we cover each day, homework, and extra resources. The Daily Learning Log can be accessed through Canvas and our team websites.
What to do when my child is struggling:
Check their workbook for complete notes and homework completion. If notes and/or homework is incomplete, please discuss why and remind them to go to the daily learning log to review the missed material. There are videos of the majority of our lessons.
Utilize the extra practice resources on the daily learning log and on Canvas.
Review the lesson summaries after each lesson in their workbooks.
Review past quick check, quiz, and test questions via SchoolNet. Once all students have completed the assessment, the correct answers will be available.
Encourage your child to talk to their teacher. We can often help by making intentional changes in the classroom (seat change, check ins, extra review.)
Remind your child, productive struggle is normal and will help them grow!
Your child's success in ELA largely depends on building reading skills rather than memorizing content. Students are assessed on their ability to apply these skills. All students will read a novel as a central text each quarter, as well as supporting shorter texts in the unit. Our daily learning logs will have the lessons we cover each day, homework, and extra resources. The Daily Learning Log can be accessed through Canvas and our team websites.
What to do when my child is struggling:
Encourage regular reading of 20 minutes a night. The best way to become a better reader is to read!
Review PowerSchool, Canvas, and assignments in the red ELA folder together.
Have students review vocabulary and materials posted in Canvas for support.
Check the Homework on the Daily Learning Log found on the ELA Class Canvas Home Page.
Utilize the extra practice resources on the Daily Learning Log and on Canvas.
Review past assessments and assignments via Canvas. Once all students have completed the assessment, the correct answers will be available.
