Science in 8th grade is focused on helping students build the skills needed to be successful in high school while exploring topics from elementary school and 6th and 7th grade at a higher and more complex level. Students will study:

• Chemistry

• Water

• Renewable vs nonrenewable energy resources

• Infectious diseases

• Evolution

• Ecosystems & populations

Beyond the concepts listed above, students will also practice collaboration skills, critical thinking, and learn to monitor their own learning. The goal is for rising ninth graders to be comfortable with the habits of mind that lead to great experiences in high school and whatever awaits them after.
