About Us

All About the ECS II Staff

We are all from various places around the world and like different things, but what bonds us all together is an absolute LOVE of your children. We are all committed to creating caring citizens who change the world.

Our Philosophy

We fully believe that ALL students can learn, maybe not in the same day or in the same way, but they can learn and impact the world. We are committed to creating students who are confident, independent, and most importantly life-long learners.

Our Classroom

If you were to walk into our classroom the idea is that it looks as close to a typical General Education classroom as possible, as getting our children back onto the State Standards is always the big picture goal. We believe that in order to set up our students for success modeling our classroom as close as possible to their typically developing peers is most beneficial. With that being said, our classroom is highly adapted to the needs of each and every students with structured spaces, visuals, and supports.

Behavioral Intervention

Both our ECS I and ECS II classroom utilize the concepts of Green and Red Choices, Green choices are "good choices". The ECS II class utilizes a Clip Chart to show whether students are making Green or Red choices, it lets the children see how well their are doing that day in terms of behaviors. Also it allows us to incorporate rewards and consequences into their day, for example if you are repeatedly making red choices you will lose the opportunity to work on the iPad, Kindle, or Computer, you can also loose other preferred items such as the exercise ball, trampoline, etc. This allows us to teach our kids that all of our actions have consequences (good and bad). We also work on the idea of delayed gratification/rewards with students only accessing a short reward/earning time after lunch and snack, then a much later every Friday. We are also introducing the idea of a Treasure Box if students end 4 or more days on Purple and Pink.
