What do we do?!

The role of a school counselor has changed dramatically over the years. We are professionally licensed Mental Health Professionals with specialized training to work with students in an academic setting.

We provide classroom lessons, small groups for students and individual student check ins. We collaborate with teachers and admin to support student needs. We are often helpers in the building and you may see us almost anywhere!

(We are not clinical therapist and cannot provide therapy, diagnosis or testing services.)

At MCES we have a SEAl Classroom - this means Social Emotional and Academic Learning. We see students in our classroom lessons during their special rotations.

Our job is to help students with their ability to communicate and navigate a world with others, learn about their emotions and regulation, and be able to support them in their academics that lead to graduation and completion of high school in the future.
