Course Description
In this course, students create original two- and three-dimensional artwork while applying the Elements of Art (Color, Form, Line, Shape, Space, Texture and Value) and the Principles of Design (Balance, Contrast, Emphasis, Movement, Pattern, Rhythm, and Unity). Drawing, painting, sculpture and collage are among a few of the art processes students engage in, using pencil, tempera and watercolor paints, colored paper, and other types of media. In addition, students are introduced to prominent past, contemporary, and multicultural artists. They are encouraged to think independently and collaboratively, write critically about master works and reflect on their own projects.
