Course Description
This course is an introduction to Visual Arts for Middle School. Sixth-grade students explore the Elements of Art (Line, Shape, Form, Space, Value, Color and Texture) through hands-on activities, including creating Optical Illusions and One-Point Perspective Drawings. In addition, students are introduced to the Color Wheel. Applying elements of art while creating unique pieces is a major emphasis. This course allows students to explore a variety of media and art processes that may include working with paper mache, clay and fiber depending on students' top interests. Enjoying the process, taking pride in finished work, gaining positive self-esteem, and discovering personal identity are all key goals in Visual Arts Exploratory.
