The following are the dance technique classes that will be offered to students in the 2025-2026 school year:
Ballet I and II
Jazz I, II, and III
Modern I, II, and III
Tap I and II
All Level I and Level II classes are quarter length elective classes. All Level III classes are semester length classes. You may take multiple dance technique classes throughout the school year.
Ligon Dance also has performance companies that are for our most advanced dancers. These companies participate in school based and community dance performances. Students who are interested in being considered for a performance company must participate in placement auditions. The following are the current dance companies at Ligon:
Ligon Dance Ensemble - semester long performance company for intermediate ballet/modern dancers (open to 6th - 8th grade students)
Tap III Ensemble - semester long performance company for intermediate tap dancers (open to 6th - 8th grade students)
Ligon Dance Company - year long performance company for advanced ballet/modern/jazz dancers (open to 7th and 8th grade students)
Tapestry- year long performance company for advanced tap dancers (open to 7th and 8th grade students)
All 6th graders who do not participate in auditions will be enrolled in a Level I class if they choose to take dance as an elective. Students who participate in placement auditions are eligible to start their dance journey in a Level II class, after being evaluated by our teachers. We encourage all students who have dance experience to participate in auditions! This year we are offering a virtual audition option for incoming 6th grade students. Please view the "Audition Information" page at the top of the site for information on how to complete your audition. Our goal at Ligon is to help all of our dancers continue to grow and be challenged at the appropriate level!
