Wakemedia Monthly

Volume 8: November 2020

Important: North Carolina Digital Learning and Media Inventory (DLMI)

The timeline for submitting the DLMI report to the state was changed because of the pandemic. You may remember that we did not submit the DLMI at the end of last school year. As a result, DPI requires us to submit the DLMI by the end of this calendar year.

All of the information you need to complete this report can be found on the DLMI page of the Library Media Services site.

We will offer two different support sessions for those who have questions or need assistance and will record them for anyone who is interested but cannot attend.

Monday, November 30, 4pm-5pm

Tuesday, December 1, 1pm-2pm

Google Meet code: dmv-qzke-uxn

The recorded sessions will be posted on the DLMI page on the Library Media Services site.

If you have questions about the DLMI, contact Deb Bonner.

*Note that you will not have to submit the DLMI again at the end of the school year. DPI will now require the report to be submitted in December of each year.

eWISE and the NC Digital Learning Standards

Not sure where to start when you look at the new NC Digital Learning Standards? Take a look at the Grade Band Indicators and other resources on the DPI Digital Teaching and Learning site. These indicators can help you think through what the standards can look like at different grade levels.

As you consider which standards to prioritize in your instruction, we suggest starting with those that align with the eWISE research process. We’ve added additional support materials to the eWISE page on our site. You can now find documents to help you crosswalk eWISE with the Digital Learning Standards.

If you are starting with the standards and want to identify their connection to eWISE, you may find this highlighted version helpful.

If you are thinking about eWISE and looking to integrate the Digital Learning Standards, this chart version may be more useful.

Elementary Support Groups--mark your calendar

Feel free to join the group that best aligns with your schedule situation:

  • Fully fixed schedule with instruction in classrooms: Tuesday, December 1st, 4:15pm-5:15pm

  • Fully fixed schedule with instruction in the library: Wednesday, December 2nd, 4;15pm-5:15pm

  • Fixed/Flex hybrid with instruction in classrooms: Thursday, December 3rd, 4:15pm-5:15pm

  • Fixed/Flex hybrid with instruction in the library: Tuesday, December 8th, 4:15pm-5:15pm

  • All virtual instruction and/or Fully Flex schedule: Thursday, December 10th, 4:15pm-5:15pm

Google Meet code for all meetings: rek-gdjc-uzn

WakeForward

We hope to begin some virtual, asynchronous PLT work to support the WakeForward focus areas beginning in January. We know that many of you have been diligent about continuing to meet with your MTAC and set goals for the year. If you have identified a focus area for this school year, please make sure that you’ve completed the form to report that information. If you have not yet met with your MTAC or considered your focus area, there are support documents to help with planning MTAC meetings and working through the WakeForward process in the WakeForward section of the Library Media Services site.
