Canvas for Young Learners 

This PL Day session is dedicated to helping teachers create Canvas courses tailored for young learners, particularly those in grades K-2. This workshop will be invaluable for educators at all levels who aim to make their courses more accessible for students with diverse needs.

Collection Management for School Library Media Coordinators 

This course is intended to support the experienced school librarian with drafting a new or revising an existing collection management plan. Participants will learn best practices for collection analysis, drafting a collection management plan, curating materials, selecting and purchasing new materials, and weeding. Register for either the Elementary or Secondary session, and plan to attend all 3 training dates.

Digital DIY: Remodel Your Class with District Digital Tools

This PL Day session will empower educators to harness district-provided digital resources creatively. Through hands-on exploration and innovative strategies, participants will learn how to renovate their instructional practices, aligning them seamlessly with our district learning model. This session goes beyond curriculum content, focusing on the "how" of teaching to elevate classroom instruction to new heights of engagement and effectiveness.

Inquiry and Instruction for School Library Media Coordinators

This course is intended to support the experienced school librarian with creating inquiry-based lessons and unit plans. Register for either the Elementary or Secondary session, and plan to attend all 3 training dates.

New and Noteworthy: 2024 Book Preview for School Librarians

This PL Day session will allow school librarians to preview newly published (2024) titles to identify new releases that can address the goals of their collection management plan, and help support a library collection that is aligned with the NC Standard Course of Study and provides for the recreational and informational needs of students. Time will be provided to review collection management best practices, confer with colleagues about notable titles, independently browse review copies, and build book lists for future orders.

WakeForward PLC: School Libraries and Literacy

Work with colleagues to examine different literacies that can be supported by a modern school library program. Develop lessons and instructional supports that can contribute to a collection of resources for librarians across the district. Choose from the Elementary or Secondary sessions. Attend one or both training dates.
