WakeForward is an initiative to support and strengthen school library programs in WCPSS. School library media coordinators and their Media and Technology Advisory Committees (MTAC) can find all of the necessary information, support tools, and resources for WakeForward on this site.
We believe that strong school library programs are vital to every school community.
The WakeForward initiative launched in the 2018-2019 school year as a way to better define, strengthen, and advocate for our school library programs.
School librarians can use the WakeForward framework and resources to help grow their library program. The concept is simple:
Use the School Library Program Assessment (or modify it to better meet your needs) with your Media and Technology Advisory Committee (MTAC) to identify areas of strength for your library program and opportunities for growth.
Based on the results of the program assessment, select 1 or 2 focus areas to prioritize your efforts this school year. Set goals for what you hope to accomplish in those areas and identify ways the MTAC can help.
Participate in Library Media Services professional learning that supports the areas in which you've selected to focus.
Track and reflect on progress toward your goals with your MTAC.
