december: open-minded

We critically appreciate our own cultures and personal histories, as well as the values and traditions of others. We seek and evaluate a range of points of view, and we are willing to grow from the experience.

December is the perfect month to have open conversations with friends about their traditions and culture. Allow them the opportunity to grow and understand themselves and find similarities and differences by being open-minded. Share cultural and personal values and traditions in class and at home.

As an IB PYP School, we are dedicated to modeling and teaching the learner profile supported by the attitudes of the profile. The learner profile is a “broad range of human capacities and responsibilities that go beyond academic success.” The ten universal values develop lifelong learners and internationally minded citizens.

Through the IB Learner Profile we strive to be Inquirers, Knowledgeable, Thinkers, Communicators, Principled, Open-Minded, Caring, Risk-Takers, Balanced, and Reflective.

These are the day to day attitudes we use: appreciation, commitment, confidence, cooperation, creativity, curiosity, empathy, enthusiasm, independence, integrity, respect, and tolerance.
