What are the Sustainable Development Goals?
"The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), also known as the Global Goals, were adopted by the United Nations in 2015 as a universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet, and ensure that by 2030 all people enjoy peace and prosperity.
The 17 SDGs are integrated—they recognize that action in one area will affect outcomes in others, and that development must balance social, economic and environmental sustainability."
How does 5th grade use the Global Goals?
In 5th grade, we connect our learning to the Global Goals throughout the year. In the spring, students complete a capstone project called Exhibition, focusing on one of the Global Goals.
How can I help my child with the Global Goals?
Visit globalgoals.org with your child to read and learn more about each goal. Discuss how different goals might be connected to one another. Notice and point out when you see or read about issues related to the Global Goals. Please encourage your child to bring in any articles or resources that they find to share with the class!
