Mrs. Scott has been teaching music for over 25 years with 11 years as a full-time classroom teacher in grades K-12. She holds a Bachelor of Music Education Degree from the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University-Bloomington, where her primary instrument was saxophone.
Ms Scott has taught elementary, middle, and high school band in southern Indiana as well as southern California. She taught middle school and high school chorus, band, and general music in Northwest Indiana. She was the first K-8 music teacher at a charter school when she moved to North Carolina in 2008 after marrying her husband, Derek (also a Hoosier native!). She taught Kindermusik, private music lessons, and was a substitute teacher until returning to full-time teaching at Joyner Elementary.
When Mrs. Scott isn't teaching music or volunteering in her children's schools, she enjoys spending time with her son (Enloe HS) and daughter (Ligon MS), their two cats (Zoe and Samantha), and golden retriever (Brinkley). She also loves to read, follow Chicago sports teams, grill delicious foods, bake desserts, and share laughter and love with family and friends.
