When should I consult the school psychologist?
· When you are seeking strategies to resolve behavioral/learning challenges in children, such as:
o Fears about starting school (or returning to school)
o Family events that has recently occurred (divorce, death of a pet or loved one)
o Feelings of anxiety or what may be perceived as depression; talk of hopelessness
o Lack of study skills
· When you are trying to gain information on what is considered developmentally appropriate behavior of your child.
· When you are seeking a wide variety of techniques to assist you with:
o Academic skills and learning aptitudes
o Personality and emotional development
o Social skills acquisition
· When you need assistance on managing a crisis (such as death, illness, or trauma)
· When you are looking for ideas to help your child be successful in the classroom.

School Psychologist: Licensed by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI) most recently issued on July 1, 2021 through June 30, 2026. This level of training requires completion of an approved program in school psychology at the sixth-year level. License #1102280
Appears on the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction Exceptional Children Division registry of school psychologists who have undergone additional didactic training and case-based supervision in working with students who have had traumatic brain injury.
