The main purpose of NJHS is to serve our school and community. There are many events we sponsor throughout the year such as:
Direct students/parents around the school on the first day of school and during Open House
Teach 6th graders the HMS way during the first week of school (PBIS)
Group service projects. Small groups within each track sponsor one service project per year such as courtyard clean up, decorating the hall walls, thank a bus driver campaign, etc.
Lead tours around HMS to rising 6th grade parents and students
Each member must earn at least 10 hours of community service per semester. Hours may be earned at HMS or by volunteering in the community
Fall fundraiser for the local food bank
Spring fundraiser for HMS through the carnival at Flora Festival
Attend monthly meetings to plan service and participate in leadership/team building activities
The NJHS Leadership Team is made up of 2 students from each track. The team works with NJHS advisers to plan and implement each meeting. Working with the team is a great way to shape leadership skills. The team is elected by the NJHS members during the first meeting of the new school year.
