Virtual Career Exploration
Career exploration resources are provided on this page that will allow students to begin making "school-to-career" connections. Click on the links to watch videos and explore informational resources on various types of careers. Resources are also provided to allow students to take "Interest Inventories" that will allow them to discover characteristics about their learning style and careers that match their interest. Career details such as tasks, work settings, education needed, and more can be found using these resources.

Click on the link to access videos from US Careers Online. This is a resource for middle school students, their parents, and educators to discover career opportunities available to them. This site will help students know why they learn specific skills in school. US Careers Online highlights both careers and the pathways available to enter the workforce.
Click the Virtual Career Fair link to listen to local guest speakers talk about their career. The videos are listed by career cluster. Find a career that is of interest to you.
HMS students will take an interest inventory through nccareers.org to learn more about what type of person they are. After taking the short quiz or the long quiz, students will find out which careers match their personality. Students will discover if their personality is Realistic, Investigative, Artistic, Social, Enterprising, Conventional, or some combination. (RIASEC) Eighth grade students will take the Personality Inventory in Major Clarity to determine what type of career path they should follow based on their personality.
Reality Check is an online simulation that allows students to make budget choices and get a summary of state or county costs in 12 major expense categories. Student will then link to occupations that pay salaries that match their life choices.

Directions:
Take the Personality Inventory in Major Clarity to determine what type of career path you should follow based on your personality. Click on the link, then scroll down to "continue with Google" in order to log in. Choose your SCHOOL EMAIL address.
After taking the personality test, choose two career paths and complete the "Major Clarity Worksheet". You will need to create a copy of the worksheet to add your content.
Use the link below to watch a video that will help you understand how to use the Career Exploration tab in Major Clarity. Click on the Career Exploration tab on the left to find the careers and career paths that were selected for you based on the assessment you took. Note: Salary and wages are the same.
