Retakes
As language learning is based on skills and not individual objectives that can be easily checked off, students will be given the opportunity to improve their score within each skill category at the end of the quarter by means of a “skill recovery assessment”.
Students who feel they can demonstrate a higher level of proficiency for any mode of communication than what is reflected in PowerSchools will be provided that opportunity at the END of the quarter.
The grade will be entered into PowerSchools as an additional assignment in the corresponding category, and it will be worth the total amount of cumulative points that are already in that category at the end of the quarter. This works out to be the average of the final category score and the skill recovery assessment.
Late Work
Assignments that are not turned in on time are entered as a 0 in the Powerschools and marked "MISSING". This is simply a placeholder to alert students of their missing assignments.
Each assignment will have a “Due Date” and a “ No Later Than Date” (1- 2 weeks later). Work will be accepted up until the "No Later Than Date" (NLTD) set by Madame Dridi for full credit. After that date, all late work will be accepted within the quarter for a max of 70% grade. (However, exceptions will be made for students with medical needs or other equity reasons.)
Final Exam - 20% of final grade
