How to Request a Chromebook
Every WCPSS student is eligible to request a Chromebook at any time.
It takes at least 5 business days for a Chromebook to be delivered. You will get an email when your Chromebook is ready to be picked up in the Media Center.
If your Chromebook or charger is damaged or not working, let Ms. Dry or Ms. Hladik-Brown know. We will troubleshoot or request a replacement. Students are responsible for making sure their Chromebooks are charged and ready for use at school.
Updating Your Chromebook
There are some exams (EOCs, PSAT, ACT, ACT WorkKeys, NC Check-Ins) that require you to use a WCPSS-issued Chromebook with the latest operating system. Follow these steps to make sure your device is up to date:
Log in to your Chromebook
Click the time in the bottom right corner
Click the gear icon
Click About ChromeOS in the bottom left corner
Click Check for updates
If your Chromebook needs to update, updates will start.
Once it reaches 100%, click the button that says Restart (it may take a minute for this button to appear). After your Chromebook has restarted, repeat steps 1-5. You may need to do this multiple times.
If your Chromebook does not need to update, you will see a blue checkmark and the message Your Chromebook is up to date
Trouble Logging In?
If you need assistance logging in to the WakeID portal, school computers, or PowerSchool, visit the Media Center or email Ms. Dry or Ms. Hladik-Brown for assistance.
