Students learn how to navigate the research databases and use search features to find relevant sources and cite them in APA format (30 minutes)
Students complete a scavenger hunt while exploring the library space, book collection, research databases, and services (45 minutes)
Students sample a selection of books on a course topic, theme, or genre – fiction and nonfiction – and are given time to check out books they’re interested in reading (30 minutes)
Students learn what generative is and isn't, how to use it as a tool in the research process, and how to cite its use (45 minutes - 1 hour)
Students analyze photos, letters, maps, and other sources before discussing differences between primary and secondary sources related to a topic they are learning about (30-45 minutes)
Students participate in a guided activity to improve listening skills and practice asking more thought-provoking questions for interviews and discussions (30 minutes)
Students consider multiple layers of an issue to help prepare them for a deeper discussion or more productive debate(30 minutes)
After a discussion about what plagiarism means and how to avoid it, students identify the parts of a citation in various sources and build citations (45 minutes)
After a discussion about what reliability means, students evaluate a source for the different elements of reliability and are then introduced to the Media Center databases (30 minutes)
