The Media Center is here to support your instructional goals by connecting you and your students with reliable, high-quality information resources.
Our databases provide curriculum-aligned, credible sources for research and classroom projects across all subject areas. Teachers and students can access these databases through the WakeID Portal and the GHHS Media Center website.
We can help your students learn why and how to cite sources through group instruction, one-on-one support, and also with our guides for citation in MLA and APA style.
How to Cite Legal Sources: Bills, Laws, and Court Cases
Every staff member is eligible to apply for a free Wake County Public Library account (even if you live outside of the county). This provides access to an extensive collection of ebooks, audiobooks, and research databases, perfect for independent reading, enrichment, or instructional support.
Digital Resource Product Library (DRPL) is found in the WakeID portal and contains WCPSS-vetted digital resources. This is where you go to determine whether or not a digital resource is approved for use in WCPSS. Always check the Digital Resource Product Library (DRPL) before using a new tool.
Which tools can you use?
This document explains how to interpret a DRPL product listing. If a tool is not in DRPL, it has not been reviewed and cannot be used.
Navigating DRPL
Go to WakeID Portal, click Digital Resource Product Library, then click Search DRPL to view digital resources that have been reviewed.
Software Center displays applications that you can install or uninstall, applications that have been pushed from WCPSS Technology Services, and Windows Updates. This document provides an overview of the Software Center.
Notes:
Only DRPL approved applications are added to the Software Center.
Staff must be on the WCPSS network to install applications from the Software Center.
Updates to approved applications must be installed through the Software Center.
Welcome to Green Hope! Below is a checklist of technology information to get you started. Please feel free to stop by the Media Center or email Karyn, Mikayla, or Jenni with any questions.
WakeID Portal: An email from wakeidadmin@wcpss.net was sent to your personal email account with your WakeID username. Once you have your username, follow these directions to claim your WakeID and change your password.
Duo: Set up Duo (multi-factor authentication) to log into the Wake ID portal.
Email: WCPSS uses Outlook as its email system for students and staff. You can access your email through the Outlook app in the WakeID portal. Your email address is your wakeid@wcpss.net. To send confidential/encrypted emails, follow these steps.
WCPSS Employee #: To get your 6-digit WCPSS employee number, log into your WakeID>Click on Oracle>WCS Employee Self Service>Personal Information.
NCEdCloud/Infinite Campus #: Get your 10-digit NCEdCloud/Infinite Campus number (if you transferred from another NC school, the number stays the same) by logging into your WakeID>Click on Oracle>WCS Employee Self Service>Personal Information.
Set up/log into Infinite Campus and Canvas: This can take several days after your first day, especially if you transferred from another NC school.
Staff Device Request: On your first day, the librarians will request a staff device for you. It takes about a week to arrive, but you can borrow a device from the Media Center to use until your device is ready. The first time you log in to a WCPSS device, follow these steps (under Windows Network Login).
Install printers: Install printers on your laptop; there are shared printers on each hallway and in the Mods. Find the room number of the closest one to install.
Request technology help and set up time to collaborate: Email or stop by the Media Center to see Karyn Wilson (kwilson20@wcpss.net), Mikayla Brooks (mbrooks5@wcpss.net), or Jenni Dry (jdry@wcpss.net).
Add important apps: In the WakeID portal, click + at the top of screen to open App Library. Suggested examples:
NCSIS (Infinite Campus) – if not already in your WakeID portal
