Generative AI refers to the use of artificial intelligence to create new content, like text or images, in response to a prompt. Google Gemini, an example of this technology, is approved by WCPSS for student and staff use at school. When using Gemini or other AI tools on schoolwork, students should:
Only use AI on assignments and instructional activities when a teacher has given written permission
Acknowledge any use of AI on assignments and instructional activities with proper citation
Never enter personal or identifiable information (like your name or address) into an AI tool
Be skeptical of the information provided by AI. Students are responsible for fact-checking information from AI tools and doing their own research using reliable sources
For guidance on how to use AI tools effectively and ethically, see the Green Hope librarians – Ms. Wilson, Ms. Brooks and Ms. Dry.
Every WCPSS student is eligible to request a Chromebook at any time.
It takes at least 5 business days for a Chromebook to be delivered. You will get an email when your Chromebook is ready to be picked up in the Media Center.
If your Chromebook or charger is damaged or not working, let Ms. Wilson, Ms. Brooks or Ms. Dry know. We will troubleshoot or request a replacement. Students are responsible for making sure their Chromebooks are charged and ready for use at school.
If you need the Bluebook app installed for the SAT or a digital AP exam, it is already on your Chromebook!
Make sure you are completely logged out of your device. On the WakeID log in screen, select Apps in the lower left corner, and Bluebook will be one of the options. If it isn't there, follow the instructions below to update your device. This will need to be done at least 48 hours before testing.
There are some exams (EOCs, PSAT, ACT, ACT WorkKeys, NC Check-Ins) that require you to use a WCPSS-issued Chromebook with the latest operating system. Follow these steps to make sure your device is up to date:
Log in to your Chromebook
Click the time in the bottom right corner
Click the gear icon
Click About ChromeOS in the bottom left corner
Click Check for updates
If your Chromebook needs to update, updates will start.
Once it reaches 100%, click the button that says Restart (it may take a minute for this button to appear). After your Chromebook has restarted, repeat steps 1-5. You may need to do this multiple times.
If your Chromebook does not need to update, you will see a blue checkmark and the message Your Chromebook is up to date
If you need assistance logging in to the WakeID portal, school computers, or PowerSchool, visit the Media Center or email Ms. Wilson, Ms. Brooks or Ms. Dry for assistance.
Welcome to Green Hope! You can visit the GHHS Media Center before school, at lunch, or during class with a pass to ask questions about your student accounts, school Chromebook, books, research and more. Here are some answers to questions new students often ask.

Ask a librarian to request a student device for you. When it is delivered to the school, you will be notified via email that it is ready to pick up. In the meantime, you may borrow a Chromebook and return it at the end of the school day.
Ask a librarian for assistance.
