Wake County math curriculum is from MVP which is now part of Open Up Resources which your child used for Math 6, 7 and 8. Therefore, we will continue a collaborative and application based method of involving students in their own mathematical learning.
Each student receives their own workbook for each module. Often, we will complete class activities in their workbook by introducing a topic with a task that the students will grapple with. They will have individual time and then collaborate with each other on various strategies to determine mathematically sound solutions. We will utilize productive struggle in order to help the students make their own connections. We will work through the lessons to build stronger mathematical understanding.
Students will have regular nightly homework in their workbook as well as Weekly Math and Problem Sets.
