• In this yearlong course, students sing unison, two-part and/or three-part music in this performing choral music group.

• Students have the opportunity to sing solos and participate in small ensembles.

• Members of this group may participate in the annual Wake County All-County Chorus, NC ACDA Middlefest!, The Fuquay Choral Festival Concert, and the annual Fuquay Varina Christmas Tree Lighting.

• Some rehearsals will take place outside the school day as well as performances and they are all required.

• Students will study international music and histories of musical styles as well as sight-singing, ear training, and music theory.

• This class is by audition/teacher recommendation only.

• All assignments, rubrics, rehearsal tracks, and projects etc will be available through Google Classroom. Grades will be available through Powerschool.

• Sharpened Pencils

• 2 highlighters (yellow, green, or orange)

• Small pencil pouch to keep in chorus binder

• 1" binder with clear insert cover (any color)

• 5 tab dividers

• Water bottle

• Formal Performance attire

• Music given out during class

• Chorus t-shirt (see below)

Informal Uniform

All concert choir members will be required to purchase this year's choir t-shirt to wear for informal performances, such as singing the National Anthem at games, school-based performances, etc. The informal uniform will be the 2022-23 choir t-shirt and jeans. Shoes should be flat and comfortable.

Formal Uniform: All black dress clothes. Acceptable choices are black button down shirts, black dress tops, black dress pants, all black dresses must be at least knee length. Shoes should be dress shoes, but heel height should be limited.

Chorus t-shirts and hoodies will be sold by the FVMS Choral Booster Club beginning in October. Info and order forms will be sent home with students. Purchasing a t-shirt is REQUIRED FOR CONCERT CHOIR, however, purchasing more than a t-shirt does support our choral program!
