Class Info for 6th/7th/8th Grade Chorus Classes that are semester long.

  • This semester course provides a variety of singing opportunities for students embarking on a formal choral experience. Students are encouraged to take BOTH the Fall AND Spring semesters to receive a more in-depth choral education.

  • Vocal techniques and music reading are emphasized along with the study of various international musical styles and histories.

  • Students learn basic music literacy concepts.

  • One performance is required per semester. Dates are located on the Calendar of Events page.

  • All assignments, rubrics, rehearsal tracks, projects etc will be available through Google Classroom and grades will be available on Powerschool.


Required Supplies

  • Sharpened Pencils

  • 2 highlighters (yellow, green, or orange)

  • Small 3-ring pencil pouch to keep in chorus binder

  • 1" black binder with clear insert cover

  • 5 tab dividers

  • Water bottle

  • Performance attire

  • Music given out during class


Performance Attire


Formal Uniform: ALL BLACK dress clothes. Acceptable choices are black long-sleeve button down shirts, black dress tops, black dress pants with a black belt, dresses must be at least knee length. Button down shirts must be tucked into dress pants. In short, ALL BLACK ATTIRE. Shoes should be dress shoes, but heel height should be limited.


*When choosing performance attire, please keep the FVMS dress code in mind. Any student who does not follow the school dress code or dress in a professional manner may be asked not to perform. This would result in a loss of the student's grade.*


Chorus t-shirts and hoodies will be sold by the FVMS Choral Booster Club beginning in October and again in the spring 2023 semester. Info and order forms will be sent home with students. Buying one of these items is OPTIONAL, but this is a fundraiser for our choral program.
