Mr. Barham: Letter to Parents

Dear Rogers Lane Elementary School Parents & Families,

Welcome to the 2020-2021 school year! This school year will be different and unique.

Continue to be patient and flexible as we navigate through all of these changes.

All students will start the school year online, either in Plan B Transition or the WCPSS Virtual Academy.

Rogers Lane Elementary School is a traditional calendar school. The first day of school for students is Monday, August 17, 2020. This will not be your typical first day of school, since all students will not have their devices.

If you did not take the WCPSS Technology Survey and your child needs a device or hotspot, email our assistant principal, Mrs. Percy. Her email address is mrogne-percy@wcpss.net. In the email include:

1. Your child's first and last name
2. Your child's grade level
3. Your first and last name
4. Your email address

The school district will start distributing devices on Monday, August 17, 2020 at the following locations:

1. Knightdale High School
2. Enloe High School
3. South Garner High School
4. Leesville Road High School
5. Apex High School

Once your device is ready for pickup, the district will contact you. Devices will not be distributed from Rogers Lane Elementary School.

A School Supply list for online learning will be on the Rogers Lane Elementary School website by 5 pm on Friday, August 14, 2020.

The first two weeks of school, August 17 - 28, 2020 will be a student orientation period. During this time, students will:

1. Get their teacher assignment
2. Meet their teacher and other grade level teachers virtually
3. Get an instructional schedule for online learning
4. Pick up required books and materials from school to use during online learning (times will be designated to come to school to get items)
5. Pick up their devices and hotspots from the district
6. Parents will complete required beginning of school paperwork and forms

Attendance will be taken each day for online learning for Plan B Transition and WCPSS Virtual Academy. It is important that your child participate in all required learning activities.

When your child's teacher contacts you, make sure you provide them with your most up-to-date contact information (phone number and email address).

If you have neighbors or friends, whose children attend Rogers Lane Elementary School, check to make sure they got this message too.
