Hello Parents and Students! My name is Ms. Rodgers and I am a 4th grade ELA teacher at Rogers Lane Elementary School. My teaching career began in Guilford county after graduating from the illustrious North Carolina A&T State University! Aggie Pride! My favorite subject to teach is ELA and I enjoy reading fiction novels. I love participating in water activities such as kayaking, canoeing, snorkeling in clear-water beaches or just swimming laps around the pool.
I value the unique realities of my students by incorporating their diverse cultures into my classroom instruction. I want my students to know what emancipation feels like in the classroom so I focus heavily on building relationships so that they can feel comfortable being themselves and expressing their cultures. Please follow my twitter page @RodgersTeach1 for personal announcements and updates specifically for my ELA class. I am very excited about this upcoming school year !

Hi My name is Mrs. Whitehurst. Welcome to Fourth Grade. This is my fourth year at Rogers Lane. My career began as a Head Start teacher. I opened the first Head Start classroom in a public school setting in 1978. I knew at a very young age that I wanted to be a teacher. I started attending college in 1995 and graduated from Shaw University with a BA in Elementary Education in 1998 and I went on to earn a Masters in Education in 2001, and years later I began working on a Masters in School Administration. I finished graduate school in 2011. I began my teaching career in Vance County as a fourth grade teacher. Best experience ever. I have continued my educational journey since then. I will be teaching fourth grade this year and I am very excited about coming back to the classroom. I have been the Behavior Support Coach for the last two years at Rogers Lane. I am excited about re-entering the classroom setting. I have been a educator 20+ years. I have taught 4, 5, k, Interventionist, AYP Specialist, Behavior Support Coach, and now I am teaching fourth grade again. I am excited about my new adventure and I hope we all have a fantastic school year. I am very much looking forward to a great school year! If someone asked me what I bring into the classroom as a teacher. I would say passion, teachable moments, and a love for watching students learn and grow.
