ACCESS Testing

ACCESS testing is the testing all ELs from Kindergarten to 12th grade will participate in each year sometime between the end of January and the end of March. It is a test of their proficiency in English and helps us monitor their language development.

Exiting the Program

In North Carolina, EL students are required to have an overall score of 4.8 or higher to exit the EL program. ACCESS scores are used for instructional decisions but do not factor in promotion/retention decisions.
