Course Descriptions
Enloe High School has the largest high school orchestra program in the Wake County Public School System. Currently, we offer five orchestras in which to participate. Below is a brief description of each.
Concert (Orchestra I)—This orchestra is designed to continue the study of the fundamentals of music and technique. Students are expected to participate in all performance activities of this group. Prior orchestra experience needed. No audition required.
String Ensemble (Orchestra II)—This orchestra is designed to continue and expand the technical proficiency of the members through classical music, as well as a variety of auxiliary methods. Students are expected to participate in all performance activities of this group. Entrance by audition only.
Sinfonietta (Orchestra II)—This orchestra will expand the technical proficiency of the members through the best in string orchestra literature. More advanced studies of intonation, shifting, and musicianship will be offered. Students are expected to participate in all performance activities of this group. Entrance by audition only.
Chamber (Orchestra III)— his orchestra is for students with a high level of technical proficiency. The emphasis of this group is on the performance of chamber music. Students are expected to participate in all performance activities. Entrance by audition only.
Symphony (Orchestra IV)—This orchestra is open to students with a very high level of technical proficiency. The emphasis will be on the performance of the best of full orchestra literature. Students are expected to participate in all performance activities of this group. Entrance by audition only.
