I was born on the island of St.Lucia, however I've lived here for most of my life. Upon graduating from high school, I attended Johnston Community College where I earned an Associate in Arts and Appalachian State University where I earned a B.S. in History Education with a minor in Africana Studies. I am currently in Graduate school pursuing a Masters in Urban Education.
I decided to become a history teacher because history has always been a subject that interested me. While we are together this semester, we will focus on creating our own lense of what history means to us individually, instead of just looking at it as a long list of dates and dead people. Too often we undermine the power of history and write it off as something of the past, when it is really something that we are still living in as well as currently recreating. As we progress through the semester, we will learn to understand and value the significance of the history that we encounter each day.
Here at Wakefield High, I am a teacher, as well as the JV Cheer and Stunt Coach. In my free time, you can find me at the beach, listening to music, or traveling to new places. I cannot wait to learn about you this semester!
