Book Introduction & Educator's Note
Dear Martin is a thought-provoking and powerful novel which focuses on the life of a seventeen year old African American male named Justyce McAllister. Justyce is a senior in high school and a full-scholarship student whose goal is to attend an Ivy League school. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr's life and teachings have inspired Justyce to live like he did and do what he would do. But, as his character is challenged mostly because of stereotypical ideals, he's questioning if living his life the way Dr. King did, will make a difference.
