Meetings:
Establish how often the chapter will meet (weekly, monthly, each quarter/semester, etc)
Student Officer Election Procedures:
Establish procedures for electing student officers
Chapters must hold a special ceremony for induction of members and installment of officers
Student Officer Roles and Responsibilities:
Establish duties for each student officers
Member Roles and Responsibilities:
Establish duties/requirements for each student member
Each member must participate in the Chapter Service Project (see Chapter Service Project)
Each member must perform an individual service project (see Individual Service Projects)
Membership Dues:
Establish IF you will collect dues
Chapters MAY charge up to $20 individual member fee annually
Membership Eligibility:
Must be a student in 7th grade or 8th grade
Must have been in attendance at DDMS for a minimum of 1 semester
Must at least 85% (or 3.0 on a 4.0 scale) academic average
Evaluated based on service, leadership, character, and citizenship
Honorary membership for students with disabilities or special circumstances
Transfers from other schools are automatically granted membership with a letter from the previous school principal or chapter advisor
Once dismissed a member may never be readmitted
Membership Selection:
Establish when and how members will be selected
Chapters MUST publish procedures for selection that is widely available
Chapters must have majority vote for selections, non-selections, and dismissals
Hold a special ceremony for induction of members and installment of officers
Membership Dismissal:
Establish how/why members will be dismissed
Chapters must publish procedures for dismissal
Chapter Advisors must warn, in writing, members that have fallen below chapter standards
Hold hearings for dismissals
Have majority vote for selections, non-selections, and dismissals
Once dismissed a member may never be readmitted
Chapter Service Project:
All members will participate in the chapter service project
If a member can not participate they need to notify the Chapter Advisor
Individual Service Projects:
Each individual member will complete a service project which reflect individual talents/interests, this is in addition to the chapter service project.
Service projects proposals will be submitted to the Chapter Advisor by MONTH, DAY for current members and those inducted during first semester
Service projects will be completed each year no later than MONTH, DAY for any member that was inducted before or during first semester of the school year and by MONTH, DAY for those inducted in second semester.
Documentation of completed service is due to the Chapter Advisor not later than MONTH, DAY
