Our classrooms utilize the North Carolina Extended Content Standards for our core instruction and creation of your student's individual IEP goals. These standards provide the curriculum outline that drives our lesson planning. We additionally review the standards to create IEP goals specific to allowing your student to make progress towards these standards. This supports the practice of creating high expectations for students, and stems from federal requirements of Individuals with Disabilities Education Act.
The North Carolina Extended Content Standards can be found through this site:
Unique Learning System is a district funded program that allows our students to access the standards in an engaging format. They provided monthly chapter books focused on Science and Social Studies standards that allow students to practice reading skills while learning new topics! They also provide math lessons that range from math equations to algebra and geometry!
Another helpful feature of the program is their benchmarks and monthly checkpoints. We administer these assessments as a way to gauge student learning and monitor their progress toward their IEP goals. The results to these assessments will be included in your child's Present Level of Performance on their IEP.
The last feature of Unique Learning System is an individual student login. If you would like to learn how your student can access their login at home for online work, contact their teacher.

Below is a link to the Dillard Drive Magnet Middle School site. Our students are an integral part of the DDMS community! We encourage parents to engage in the larger school community through joining the PTA and attending school wide events with their students.
