Why I became a Healthful Living Teacher:
I am a North Carolina Native, born in Washington and grew up in Raleigh. I went to East Carolina University and graduated in May of 2010, “Go Pirates.” Growing up in Wake County and attending the public schools, I always had fantastic physical education, health teachers, and coaches. Their love for their job made me want to pursue teaching Health and Physical Education.
Athletics:
Cheerleading and Track were my sports in high school! I have eight years of cheerleading experience and was a member of the Sanderson Varsity Cheerleading Squad taking the very first State Championship Carolina Cup at the NCHSAA Competition in 2005. I also was a member of the track and field team making Regional’s each year as a pole-vaulter.
Coaching:
In 2019, I earned the title of Certified Interscholastic Coach through NFHS. I will be starting my 9th season as a head Cheerleading Coach, my 8th at Holly Grove. In 2018 and 2019, I had the privilege of coaching a new and upcoming sport known as STUNT. It is a very technical sport that puts cheerleading into a game scenario. Look it up if you get a chance!I am also the Pole Vault Coach for Sanderson and Millbrook!

Life:
My husband, David and I met at church when we were 4; although, we started dating much, much later. David, is a lawyer in Raleigh and I am so proud of him and his accomplishment of opening his own law firm in 2019. Together we have two sons and a dog who keep us on our toes. Our son, Danny, was born in December of 2020 and is a wild man with a big personality. He has made our lives way busier but so fun at the same time. He is full of mayhem and loves to play outside. Our second son, Teddy, was born in February of 2023, so we are still getting to know him. When we are not working we love to go camping, hiking, fishing, spending time in the mountains or on the beach and serving in our church. We both sing on the praise team andI sing in the choir. If I had to do something other than teaching, I would be a wedding planner. I am a day of coordinator already and work a handful of weddings a year!
