Ms. Mohn's open studio time is Monday-Thursday, 4:30-5:00. Open studio is for us to meet and draw, paint, sculpt, stitch or if you have questions about the assignment for the week. You can stay for as long as you like. The googlemeet code is lesart.

This week is another fun portrait. I've always wanted to know what it would be like to float around in space. This astronaut is as close as I'll ever get to living out my astronaut dream but it sure was fun to make! Have fun and be sure to send me a picture of your astronaut portrait! kmohn2@wcpss.net

Lesson 4: May 4-8

Now that you have made found and made all sorts of faces, let's make some fun portraits! A portrait is a picture of someone, a self portrait is a picture of yourself! Your portrait pictures can be a self portrait or a portrait of someone else. After your draw the portrait, you might want to draw things in the background (behind) that add more details to where you or your person is. Have fun and I can't wait to see your pirate portraits!

Last week you found faces, this week you will make faces! You will use things around your house to make as many faces as you want. By changing how you arrange the pieces of the face, you can show different emotions, like happy, sad, angry, confused, excited. I can't wait to see what you make. Here is this week's activity, finding faces in everyday objects or things. Look all around you and see if you can find accidental faces in things that are around you all the time. Happy hunting and don't forget to send me any faces you find at kmohn2@wcpss.net!

Finding Faces Artists look at things in different ways than other people. You can learn to see things like an artist if you practice. Here is a fun challenge for you to train your brain and eyes to see what’s around you in a different way! You don’t need any art supplies except your eyes.

We are going to try to add a character to our drawing. This is a video on how to draw a leprechaun, but I am going to change it so it's not a leprechaun but Roy G. Biv the elf! You can always change a character to make it more your style.

Here is Ms. Mohn's Roy G. Biv! I did not have an indigo marker, so I colored blue and then purple on top and it made a pretty good indigo color.

This is my son's interpretation of Roy G. Biv. You can make your picture unique too.
