The fall nomination window for AIG evaluation for 3rd-5th graders is now open. If you would like your child to be considered for AIG, please complete the from below by Friday, October 3.
A nomination does not guarantee that a student will go through the AIG evaluation process. The School Based Committee for Gifted Education (SBCGE) examines data for each nominee to see if there is enough support to pursue AIG identification. If the committee decides that a student shows a need for AIG services, they could decide to refer the child for CogAT and Iowa testing, the portfolio process, or both.
Third graders who took the CogAT last spring are not eligible for CogAT and Iowa testing this fall, but they can be nominated for the portfolio process. Fourth and fifth graders, and third graders who are new to Wake County Schools, can be referred for CogAT and Iowa testing by the SBCGE.
Students who are already in AIG in both areas do not need to be nominated again. They will keep their identification for their entire time in WCPSS schools. If your child is identified in only one area, and you would like them to be considered for the second area, please fill out the nomination form. The SBCGE automatically reviews data and considers students who are currently in the Talent Development program.
To nominate your child for possible AIG evaluation, fill out the form below between 9/22/25 and 10/3/25:
