Mrs. Ramona Jenner is currently the Piano Instructor at Carnage Magnet Middle School in Raleigh. She began teaching in 1985 and joined the staff at Carnage in 2022-23 as a part-time retiree rehire. Mrs. Jenner teaches Magnet Piano I, II, and III.
Mrs. Jenner retired as a career Music Educator in 2019 after 29 years of service in the public school setting and returned as a Music Educator for WCPSS in a part-time capacity in 2021. Her teaching experience spans every grade level K-12 with experience in Virginia, Georgia, and North Carolina. She has now served for 24 years as a Choral Director and Piano Instructor for Wake County Schools. In 1995, Mrs. Jenner served as Choral Director at Wake Forest-Rolesville High School and Middle School. After leaving the profession to become a full-time mom for five years, Mrs. Jenner returned to teaching in Wake County as the Choral Director and Piano instructor at Martin Magnet Middle School from 2000-2012 where she established the Piano Lab in 2002. From 2012-2017, Mrs. Jenner again served as Choral Director at Wake Forest High School. From 2017-2019 she served as Choral Director at Green Hope High School until her retirement in 2019. Under her direction, Mrs. Jenner's choirs received consistent superior and excellent ratings in choral festivals, with a number of students selected yearly to participate in the North Carolina Honors Chorus, All-State Chorus, and Governor's School. Mrs. Jenner served as a past Chair of the Wake County Middle School Choral Staff Development and served as a Coordinator and site Host for the ACE (Achieving Choral Excellence) Festival in Wake County. She also served as a past Chair of the Wake County High School Choral Staff Development and worked as a Curriculum Writer for the High School Choral Section. At the state level, Mrs. Jenner served as Chair-Elect, Secretary, and Member-at-Large for the NCMEA Middle School Executive Board prior to returning to a high school position. During the 2021-22 school year, Mrs. Jenner served as a part-time Coordinating Teacher for Elementary Music in the Curriculum and Instruction Department for Wake County Schools. Her primary role was that of Music Assessor for K-5 students in Virtual Academy for 26 schools in the Southern and Western areas of Wake County.
Mrs. Jenner received her Bachelor of Music Degree in Music Education from The University of North Carolina at Greensboro with piano as her primary instrument. She also holds a Masters Degree in Educational Administration from North Carolina State University with a minor in Public Administration. In 2005, Mrs. Jenner received her National Board Certification in Teaching and in 2015 received National Board Certification renewal. Mrs. Jenner has served as a Choral Clinician in Virginia and North Carolina, including serving as the Choral Clinician for the Wake County Middle School All-County Chorus in 2017. She is a member of MTNA, NCMTA, RPTA, NCMEA, NAfME, and ACDA. Mrs. Jenner is excited to continue her work with piano students in the public school setting.
