Meet the Counselors
Mrs. Kristen Bush
I have been in education in NC for 17 years. Initially I taught Social Studies and P.E.(!) at Chatham Middle in Chatham county. After two years there, I came to Fuquay-Varina ES as a 5th grade teacher. I received my Master's Degree at Campbell and became the School Counselor at FVES in 2014. I am excited about the fresh faces at Baucom this year! Most of my family continues to live in Indiana, where I grew up. I moved to NC in 2005 and met my husband, Mike. We have 3 sons, Gavin (11), Camden (8), and Garrison (6). We also love our dog, Eevee, and our leopard gecko, Leo. I enjoy gardening and beautiful plants, reading novels, watching youth soccer, and walking.
Mrs. Abby Spencer
Professionally: I am entering my 17th year as a WCPSS School Counselor, working six of those years at Baucom Elementary. I have my Masters of Arts in Counseling with a Specialization in School Counseling from Lesley University in Cambridge, Massachusetts and my Bachelors of Arts in Psychology from Springfield College in Massachusetts. I am a member of the North Carolina School Counseling Association and North Carolina Teachers Association. I absolutely love what I do and wouldn't change careers for anything in the world. My favorite part of the school year is the first day. I love seeing old and new faces and knowing that everyone can start anew.
Personally: I am originally a Northern girl, born and raised in Ludlow, Vermont. Although I was raised in a snowy ski town I despise the snow! So, after I completed my Masters Degree in Boston, I was ready to escape the snowy northern climate! I moved to North Carolina in 2007 and have been loving every hot day here ever since! I live with my husband, my sons: Cole (8) and Myles (6) and a grumpy old cat named Lucy. When I have free time I enjoy reading a good book, spending time at the pool, and visiting with friends and family.
