Grade 5 - Science Fair

The fifth-grade science fair is open to any fifth-grade student that would like to participate.  This is different than the Science Expo, run by the PTA, later in the year.  For this fair, students can potentially advance to the regional fair at Wake Tech Community College in late January/early February, and then to the state fair at NC State, later in March.  Both the regional and state fairs will be held on a Saturday.

The 2026-2027 Grade 5 Science Fair will be held during the school day at Baucom in early January.  This fair is only for fifth-grade students.  We do not have families attend the fair, since judges will be interviewing the participants.  The top 3-4 projects will represent Baucom at the regional fair.  Families can attend the regional and state fair.

Students can work individually or in a team of up to three people on a single project.
