My name is Melissa Bachman and I will be working with Mrs. Walters to teach AIG this school year. I am from Pennsylvania where I received my undergrad degree in Elementary and Kindergarten Education at Penn State. Before moving to North Carolina, I taught gifted education in Fairfax County, VA for three years. 

I have taught in Wake County for the past ten years. I started by teaching third grade for four years and then fifth grade for four.  I received my Master's Degree in Education from NC State, and I recently had the honor of receiving my National Board Certification.

My husband and I met at Penn State and love college football season! We love to travel internationally to experience new cultures and eat our way through new cities. We also enjoy being active, so taking long walks, hiking, and running outside are ways that we spend our free time. We have a four year old son, Brody and an almost one year old daughter, Bryn. We also have a ten year old "pup," Reggie who is a black/white Lab mix. 

I am so excited to meet you all this school year and look forward to learning more about the families at Highcroft!
