Language Arts: (EL Module)
In Language Arts, we will have the opportunity to "travel" the world (through books, of course!).
Quarter 1: We will visit students in Afghanistan and Chad to see what learning challenges they are working to overcome.
Quarter 2: We will research about frogs in Central and South America and their unique adaptations.
Quarter 3: We will journey to London and take off to Neverland while reading "Peter Pan."
Quarter 4: We will learn about how water is used differently around the world and how to conserve this precious resource.
Math:
Our big learning goals in Math this year include multiplication, division, and fractions-- and have fun while we're doing it!
Some other units we will cover are shapes and focusing on quadrilaterals, data, word problems, addition and subtraction, area, and perimeter, telling time, and measurement (weight, length, and capacity).
Science:
Science will be a time to explore the structures and functions of living organisms, matter, force and motion, Earth in the Universe, Earth system (structures and processes) and Ecosystems.
Social Studies:
We will spend our time in Social Studies learning mostly about local government, history, and culture. Students will have the opportunity to go back in time and see what life used to be like here in Wake County, and what caused the ways of life to change into what we know today.
