Apex Middle School

Welcome to Apex Middle School Visual Arts!

**Donations of hand soap, Clorox wipes, and tin foil are always greatly appreciated! We go through these quickly!**

We offer a variety of art classes here at AMS for each grade level, including Drawing, Painting, and Visual Composition. All classes are designed to ensure all students will be successful, regardless of artistic skill or experience. Students may take any class offered for their grade level, regardless of whether they have taken an Apex Middle School Art class previously.

We will have an art show each semester to show off the exceptional work done in class! It is always my goal to display at least one piece from each student. Information will be sent home in December (first semester show) and April (second semester show).

All artwork will be handed in through Artsonia. Artsonia is a website that allows students to create digital portfolios that can be used throughout their school career. All major assignments will also include a written student reflection. Information will be sent home so you may also view your student's artwork as well. Everything uploaded to Artsonia is private, including your student's full name. Artwork may become viewable by the public only if you grant permission. 

Canvas will also be utilized in class for written assignments.

Powerschool will be updated as work is due and handed in. Students are responsible for ensuring projects and sketchbook assignments are photographed and submitted to Artsonia on time. Multiple reminders will be given during class, including timelines for projects and pacing suggestions. Missing/Incomplete assignments will be noted in Powerschool, and students may resubmit work to increase their grade. Depending on the assignment, a zero may be entered as a place holder until the assignment is finished.

The art room is always in need of cleaning supplies! Donations of Clorox wipes (or equivalent) for tables, hand wipes, and hand soap are always greatly appreciated!
